In 2010, President Barack Obama promoted the purchase and production of American-made goods in the aftermath of the Great Recession.

In response to this renewed emphasis on American manufacturing, I created a body of paintings entitled Made in the USA, drawing imagery from the familiar labels found on American-made consumer products.

The work engages with the visual language of Pop Art while acknowledging Jasper Johns and his iconic representations of the American flag. It examines the intersection of commerce, national identity, and cultural symbolism.

As an American artist producing these works in the United States, the phrase also reflects my own identity, authorship, and position within American culture.
